Educational concept
Our educational concept is one that focuses on stimulating the development of individual talent and on self-organized learning supported by academically-qualified and professionally-experienced faculty members.
Our flexible study programs culminate in a Final Project and are based on the American model of higher education, allowing students to customize their curriculum based on program requirements, previous studies, current interests, and future ambitions. Providing students with a certain level of flexibility allows them to be directors of their own learning efforts and to strengthen their sense of ownership in the educational process. Students are guided every step of the way by our team and faculty members. Our multiple starting dates further provide for a year-round academically active community in which students can choose to start in the fall, winter, spring and summer of each academic year. Our modular course design and program structure allows for an optimal further education planning.
Our truly global community is made up of many different nationalities from around the world, with students showing great appreciation for cultural diversity and entrepreneurial initiative. Our group’s global presence, through our sister institution MBS, further facilitates students transferring between campuses and spending one or more quarters abroad. All campuses offer the same study programs and follow the same program structures for students to experience an interruption-free higher education.
Our professionally-oriented curriculum instills a broad skillset, including critical thinking, problem solving and applied research, and is modeled after a multi-disciplinary approach to higher education. The program outcomes are translated effectively into an up-to-date and well-rounded curriculum.
Our faculty members combine theory and practice also by bringing contemporary case studies and experienced guest speakers into the classroom, thereby preparing students as the global leaders of the future. United International Business Schools (UIBS) was originally established in 2006 in Barcelona, Spain as an umbrella organization for business schools in Belgium and Spain. UIBS has its roots dating back to 2002 when its first school opened in Barcelona, Spain.
In 2010, UIBS regrouped its member schools and became a single multi-campus institution active in Barcelona, Madrid, Antwerp and Brussels. In 2010, Zurich, Switzerland was introduced as its new main campus, with Geneva, Milan, Tokyo and Amsterdam added as additional campuses in the following years. Also introduced was its sister institution, the United School for Liberal Studies (USLS). UIBS and USLS operate as one but offer a different set of programs.
Today, United Institute is an independent and private multi-disciplinary higher education institution with campuses across Europe and Japan offering flexible business and management studies as well as liberal and global studies at the Undergraduate and (Post)Graduate level.
We are institutionally accredited by the EQAR-listed British Accreditation Council (BAC) as well as by the ENQA-affiliated Association for Transnational Higher Education Accreditation (ATHEA). Several of our campuses have also achieved institutional certification, and most of our business programs have achieved programmatic accreditation from external agencies.[1]
